Doris D. Hoar of Canterbury Hall, Riverview, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 18, 2016 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lila (White) Burditt.

Doris was a sweet, gentle and loving soul who always thought of others. She was a progressive thinker and very interested in current events. Doris actively supported many causes that enhanced the lives of others. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church and Amnesty International.

Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be dearly missed by daughter Anna Sutherland (late Paul) of Riverview; son Mark Oar (Marla) of Riverview, Dr. Paul Oar (Bonnie) of West Virginia; son-in-law John; her nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harris, daughter Jane Scully, and several brothers and sisters.

The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00pm. A service celebrating Doris’s life will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00pm at St Paul’s United Church, Riverview (Cleveland Ave.) with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. The interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to St. Paul’s United Church or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
