Allan Gordon McKean

1959-2017

Allan Gordon McKean

Allan (Al) McKean of Baltimore, NB, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, May 15, 2017. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Raymond and Shirley (Smith) McKean.

Prior to his retirement, Al was most recently a Bridge Area Manager and he leaves a lasting legacy throughout the Northern Region. During his 28 year plus tenure, he helped build and maintain bridges across the northwest and delivered many other infrastructure improvement projects. Al lived and worked in Haidi Gwaii, Terrace, Smithers and Dease Lake and developed great working relationships with the road and bridge maintenance contractors in the area. If you ever worked in the northwest chances are you would have crossed paths with Al. Following his retirement in 2014, he returned home to his roots in Albert County having settled in Baltimore. His passions were family and friends, work, fishing and the outdoors.

Al was a dedicated father and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Angela Jane McKean of Nanaimo, BC, Allison Lorraine McKean (Andrew Newcomb) of Victoria, BC; grandson, Ethan; sister, Peggy Doucet of Edmonton; nephew, Dylan; as well as several close friends and his dog, Buddy.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A casual and informal celebration of life will take place from Baltimore United Baptist Church on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 1:00 PM, with the interment to follow in the church cemetery. Al’s wishes are for casual dress (jeans, shorts, shirts, no ties please for his service). Donations made to Albert County Home Care or Extra Mural, Driscoll Unit would be greatly appreciated by the family. Condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
