Cathy Helen Kennedy
Cathy Kennedy of Riverview passed away at her home, with her family by her side, on Friday, September 8, 2017. Born in Toronto, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Wieczorek) Pender. She attended and was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she worked as the church secretary for many years.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Fred; sons: Christopher and Bradley of Lower Coverdale, and Jason (Terra) of Moncton; brothers: Frank Pender of Milton, ON., Bob Pender (Sandy) and Bill Pender (Jennifer) both of Phoenix.
Cathy touched many hearts during her lifetime. She was always thoughtful of others, helping many in a variety of ways, with moral support or whatever they needed including financial. She was generous to a fault. To her co-working friends she was known as "MacGyver" as she seemed always to be able to come up with a solution to any challenge. In fact until this notice came out some friends thought her middle name was MacGyver. To others she was known as "The Carrot Cake Lady" and those who have had her carrot cake will understand why. Cathy loved to work on crafts and you could always find her house well decorated with handmade items at Christmas, Easter & Halloween. When her boys were young they never knew what a store-bought costume was. Cathy made every one until they were old enough to make their own call.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 5 Fatima Drive, Riverview on Tuesday September 12th from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm-9pm, with parish prayers and sharing of memories to take place at 8:30pm also from the church. The funeral mass will be celebrated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday September 13th at 11:00am with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. Donations in Cathy’s memory can be made to Atlantic Harvest House in Moncton. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007). Condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
