Marilyn Elizabeth Thompson Kerr

1933-2018

Marilyn Elizabeth Thompson Kerr

A much loved and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Marilyn Elizabeth Thompson Kerr died peacefully at the Moncton Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Born in Fredericton, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Lint) Wheeler.

Marilyn’s passing will be grieved by her children: Cindy Livingstone (Darryl) of Riverview, Libby Penosky (Barry) of Calgary, AB., Tim Thompson (Linda) of Sea View, PE, Heather McKinnon of Moncton, Diane Thompson of Moncton, Sandra Sheridan (Wes) of Shediac Bridge, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Thompson(Dan Chiasson) of Moncton; grandchildren: Andrew, Adam, Ian, Jaclyn, Mark, Barrett, Jon, Megan, Eric, Patrick, Erin and Kelly; seven great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Helen Jean Gorman of Fredericton. As well, she will be dearly missed by her extended family of nieces and nephews and by her large circle of dear friends, both at home and in her winter home of Fort Myers Beach. Marilyn was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Thompson, her second husband, William Kerr, her son, John, and her brother, Milton Wheeler.

Marilyn will be remembered as an extraordinary woman. A natural life of the party, she loved people, travel, music and winning at Yahtzee, but was most at peace by the water. The sound of the waves and the sight of the setting sun brought her closer to God.  A member of First Baptist Moncton, Marilyn filled many roles throughout her life in the church and was a long-time member of the Sanctuary Choir.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Friday, January 12, from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place at First Baptist Moncton (157 Queen St., Moncton) on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Richard Jackson officiating. The family-attended interment will take place following the funeral reception. Donations may be made in Marilyn’s memory to First Baptist Moncton or to a charity of choice.
