Jean Maud Lane passed away peacefully at Hillsdale Terraces, Oshawa, on July 29, 2018, in her 93rd year. Jean was the daughter of David and Alice Auchterlonie, born in Scotland in 1925. She was predeceased by her husband Ken, of 50 years.
Lovingly remembered by her four sons, Brian (Sandi) of Riverview, NB, Bob (Glenda) of Moncton, NB, Gary of Riverview, NB, and Jeff (Jill) of St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition, she is fondly remembered by grandchildren Kerrie (Steve), Chris (Nicole), Kristi (Peter), and Angela (Eric), Vanessa and Jesse, Britney, and Courtney, Dylan and Leslie, and several great grandchildren; Braedon and Tana, Ethan and Aiden, Adriana and Arlo, Bella, Aiden and Chase. Jean also leaves behind her companion of over 15 years, Lionel George, as well as former daughters-in-law Mary, Lori, Vicki, Sandra and Hope.

Jean was one of those wonderful war brides, from WWII, who married Ken, a Canadian soldier stationed at Aldershot Army Base in England. After the war, she left her mother, four brothers and friends and she and Ken relocated to New Brunswick. She was a kind, gentle mother to her four sons and worked hard all her life to ensure her family had the best life possible. Jean always remembered to "feed the birds", and often times during a nice dinner, would comment, "I wonder what the poor people are eating". She always told family members to be good to others. Jean enjoyed most sports, dancing, music, outdoor life, and special family gatherings. She was employed for several years in Moncton, NB, with Eaton’s of Canada, and later worked as a cosmetician for a popular pharmacy.  Several years later, Jean and Ken semi-retired, relocated to Florida and operated their own gift store for many years in St. Petersburg.

A funeral service will take place at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, (869–2007) on September 29, 2018 at 2:00pm with Rev. Bill Parks officiating. Donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca.
