Edward George Julius Meger was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on January 7, 1941. He had many jobs throughout his life but only a few that made such an important impact. From the early days mining for nickel underground in Thompson which was his dream to go underground one last time. To working for McDonald’s restaurant as an area supervisor. He loved working with the public including running One Stop Irving on Main Street. But the proudest moment for him was when he opened his own company, Huron Mat Rental and Sales. He was a great storyteller and had you in stitches with his special voices he created when telling a story. He touched the hearts of many including extended family in Barbados where he vacationed for the past 25 years which was like a second home to him. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family.
He was predeceased by parents Eda and Albert Meger born in Germany; siblings Elmer, Bill, Werner and Gordie and Adeline Helen. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Nancy Meger (Abric); his seven children: Randy Meger (Tara), Heather Meger Shadbolt (Fred), Darlene Burgess, Maureen Roy (Paul), Ralph Green (Carole), Nancy Green, Allen Green (Tanya); ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brothers Walter, Paul and Ernie Meger and several nieces and nephews.
In memory of Edward Meger, donations will be accepted on behalf of the I.W.K. Children’s Hospital.
