Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on May 16, 1930.  Died on December 9, 2018 in Moncton, New Brunswick.

She is survived by her dear sister Alison MacKenzie, beloved children Anita, Larry (Alyson), Linda (Eric), Mary (Jacek) and Ron (Kristina), and much-loved grandchildren Alana, Kristen, Claire, Elizabeth, Michael, Andrew, Mark, Alex, Cameron, Hayley, Katie, Andrew, and great-grandchildren Nathan, Brody, and Malcolm.

She was predeceased by her cherished husband of 64 years, Aubrey Bates, her parents, William and Esther Aucoin, sister Margaret, and brother John.

Audrey was a warm-hearted person and strongly devoted to her family and many friends. She graduated from the Nova Scotia Normal School and taught in St. Peter’s, Nova Scotia for several years.  She retained her love of reading and writing throughout her life and won many contests for her poems and plays.  She was a long-time volunteer librarian at Bessborough School in Moncton.

She and Aubrey represented both Moncton’s Centennial Lawn Bowling Club and the province of New Brunswick at Atlantic and national lawn bowling championships and were avid bridge players.

Visitation will be held at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Thursday from 3-5 PM with parish prayers to take place at 4:30 PM from the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Family Church on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11 AM with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. The interment will take place in Alderwood Cemetery.
