Wilfred Griffin of Riverview passed away on Friday, May 10,
2019 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Emyvale, PEI on June 10, 1938,
he was the eldest son of the late Louis and Mae (Gallant)
Griffin.
Wilfred had a passion for music and was always up for
gatherings that involved singing and playing the guitar or keyboard.
Many children over the years sat next to Wilfred as he played the
piano for them. He loved old-time country music, fishing, skating,
watching sports, solving word puzzles, berry picking as well as a good
game of cards. He cherished moments spent with his family and
particularly his grandchildren. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church. He spent 30 years working with Marine Atlantic and CN
in PEI, Toronto and Moncton. Because he loved to drive, he then worked
for several years as a shuttle driver for car auctions and Enterprise
Car Rental, which took him around the Maritime
provinces.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty years,
Anne (Peters) Griffin, daughters Lynette McMullin (Steve Bone), Sheryl
Griffin (Mark Lawson) and Erica Copeland (Jamie). He will be fondly
remembered by his sister, Colleen Coady (Brian); brothers Brendon
(Vicki), Raymond (Shirley), David (Pauline) and Lorne; sister-in-law,
Eileen Griffin; grandchildren Adam, Isaac, Hayley, Jackie, Erin, Leah
and Cael; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents,
he was predeceased by granddaughter Meaghan Dumville, sister Sheila
Peters, brother Leonard Griffin, sister-in-law Anita Griffin and
brothers-in-law Fred Doiron and Leo Peters.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm, with parish
prayers and sharing of memories at 8:30 pm. A funeral mass for
Wilfred’s life will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of
Mary Catholic Church, 5 Fatima Drive, Riverview on Tuesday, May 14,
2019 at 1 pm with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. A reception will
follow in the parish hall. Interment will take place in Alderwood
Cemetery. Donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada or the Canadian Mental
Health Association would be appreciated.
