It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hazel Hendriks, formerly of Riverview, who passed away at McNair Manor in Moncton on Saturday, April 11, 2020, with her beloved Jim and daughter Sonja by her side. Born in Musquodoboit NS, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Stella (Benedict) Brown. One of 13 children, she was predeceased by sisters Irene and Pauline, and brothers Robert, Roy, John and David.

Hazel spent her early years in NS as an elementary school teacher. After moving to Riverview in the early 70's she worked for Sears Catalogue until her retirement in the early 2000's.  Hazel was a devoted member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and an active member of the Parish Hall card parties and Prayer Shawl Ministries.

She was a force of nature, filled with an energy and zest for life barely contained by the petite package she came in.  She was many things to many people and was always willing to give her time and energy to any cause.  She loved staying in touch with family and friends through social media, and always looked forward to the next big activity. Especially important to her were her Royal Ladies and their frequent gatherings. Her family was everything to her, and she loved gathering with them over special occasions.   Her great granddaughter Iris brought her special joy.  She will be dearly missed by James, her loving husband of  62 years, daughters Sonja (Sylvie Diotte), and Doralynne Robichaud (David), grandchildren Jade Bragg (T.J.) and Jacob Chapman (Josephine),  sisters Violet and Joyce, brothers Russell, Paul, Medford, and Darrell, as well as special family Paulette, Trinda, and Darrell C., many nieces and nephews, and extended family in Holland.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Moncton Hospital for their care during her stay.  Special thanks go out to Dr. Jee and Dr. Hudson, the wonderful staff of McNair Manor, and the Extramural Palliative Care Team for their care and compassion.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, NB (869-2007), on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 4-5 for seniors age 65 and over and from 6-7 PM for those under 65. The funeral mass will be celebrated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5 Fatima Drive, Riverview on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 11 AM with Father Charlie Broderick presiding. Social distancing must be respected at all times do to the current Covid 19 restrictions.
