Carl E. Steeves

1939-2020

Carl E. Steeves

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Carl Eugene Steeves went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on July 30, 2020 with his loving wife at his side. Carl was born on October 23, 1939 in Dawson Settlement. He was the son of the late John and Sadie Steeves.

Carl retired from CN after 35 years of service. He lived in Hillsborough for many years where he was a long time active member of the Valley Baptist Church serving in the Christian Service Brigade, Awana, and as trustee and deacon. Since moving to Riverview, he was an active member of the Gunningsville Baptist Church serving as deacon as well as being involved in several committees.

He enjoyed playing games, gospel music and travelling and spent many winters in Myrtle Beach. His happiest moments were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His faith, strength and gentle nature were an inspiration to many.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie (Letterick) as well as sons Geoffrey (Mary), Gregory (Margie); daughter Tracey Steeves (Ralph); grand-daughters Katelyn Aubie (Tyson), Natalie McAleer( Richard), Erica Stewart (Lucas);  grandson Brandon; great-grandsons Blake and Micah; sister-in-law Olive Steeves and brother-in-law John Lockwood and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by siblings Thelma Savoie (Armand and first husband Herman Steeves), Janet Douthwright (Cecil), Austin Steeves (Madeleine) and Carmen Steeves; daughter-in-law Patricia Steeves and sister-in-law Diane Lockwood.
