It is with broken hearts we the family of James Cuff announce his passing Monday, December 21st, 2020 surrounded by his family at LJ Jaillet Residence where he resided in Moncton, New Brunswick, formerly of Sydney, Cape Breton.

Born in Sydney in 1938 James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He had a love for his wife that went above and beyond.  He was her husband, very best friend and caregiver, loved his children and grandchildren.  Jim also loved everything hockey – playing, coaching and watching it.  He was one of the Rink Rats from the Old Sydney Forum and a plaque is hanging in Center 200 to pay tribute to this group.  His love for Christmas was something else as he played Santa for many years.  Another one of his passions was music and he was a drummer for many years in a band known as The Island Four.  He was a happy go lucky man that could talk to anyone and if you had the pleasure to meet him you had no choice but to love him as he was a people person and his door was always open to anyone.  Also was very proud and happy to be the Godfather to Angela Aspinazz.  His famous saying was "I’ll just leave you with this".

He was a letter carrier for 33 years before taking early retirement to care for Diane.  He was known as "Sargent Major" by his coworkers.

Jim is survived by his children; son David (Gwen), daughter Carolyn (Darrell) grandchildren Chase, Logan and Cheyenne; sisters in law Lorraine, Viola (Benny), Patricia (Charlie) and Angie; brother in law Gino (Karen) as well as many nieces and nephews.  Jim was predeceased by his mother Gladys, father William, step mother Laura, his wife Diane Smith, brothers Charlie, Frank, sisters Clara, Mabel and Ann Janet in infancy.

The last days were spent at his home L J Jaillet, a special thanks to Jackie for allowing him to have his wish to be back in his home and was given such great care and love by her and her staff.

There will be no visitation.  A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sydney, Cape Breton.  His arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007).  Donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by his family.
