With sadness at her passing, but joy at her longevity, the family of Anne Elizabeth (Betty) Lambly announces her passing on January 12 at her Monarch Hall Residence with her daughter Anne by her side. She was just one month shy of her 96th birthday. Betty was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Niagara Falls, ON, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Granville. Her Scots heritage was a vital and enduring part of her life.  Immediately after her High School graduation, she enlisted as an Air Woman with the RCAF and was posted to Mountain View Air Base, Ontario, for the duration. She was very proud to have served and her framed Service medals were always on display, thanks to her son-in-law Robert Bourque.

Immediately after the war she married Douglas Charles Lambly and spent the next decades raising their family of five children. Betty became well known in her Riverview neighbourhood for her beautiful gardens and her friendship to many. Her front verandah and kitchen table were the gathering places where friends and family enjoyed many a cup of tea. Her 90th birthday was a huge occasion for celebration with everyone she held dear.

She is predeceased by her husband Douglas, her daughter Judith Bates, and grandsons Alex Bates and Jesse Bates. Mum is lovingly remembered by her children, Dorothy (Richard) Gabbey, Trenton, ON, Peter (Judith) Lambly, Halifax, NS, Russell Lambly  (Miramichi) , Anne (Robert) Somers, Riverview, NB, and by Lisa Burrell and her daughters Cassidy and Kennedy, who held a special place in her heart. She will always be remembered fondly by Jim Stevenson, John Bates, Steven Somers and LeeAnn Lambly.

Betty was the beloved Nana of seven grandchildren, Jason Stevenson, Victoria, BC, Elizabeth Stevenson, Vancouver, BC, Douglas (Maggie) Stevenson, Quinte West, ON, Drew Somers, Riverview, NB, Derek (Kelsey) Somers, Upper Coverdale, NB, and Jesse and Alex Bates. It was her joy to be great grandmother (G-Nana) to Hudson Somers and Ellie, Louis and Sam Stevenson.

A heartfelt Thank You goes out to her caregivers at Monarch Hall Residence for their friendship, care and compassion to Mum over these last few years.

Arrangements are in the care of Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007). There is no visitation. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. For those who wish, a donation in Betty’s memory may be made to St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Riverview, NB, The Moncton Hospital, or any other charity.
