Basil L. Thibodeau of Riverview passed away peacefully at his residence at the Kenneth Spencer Memorial Home on Saturday, July 24th. Born to Leonard Dosithe and Alice Marie (Kenny) Thibodeau, Basil first made a name for himself when he became the first paper boy in his hometown of Miramichi at the age of 9. He later took on several important roles throughout his career: the Director of Marketing for Blue Cross, a Mortgage Manager with Niagara Finance, and a telegraph operator with the CN.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Basil was also a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9270, the past President of the Saint John Rotary Club, a former member of the Kentville Kinsman Club, and was an avid lifelong golfer.

Basil will be dearly missed by his wife Carolyn (Tanner) Thibodeau; daughter Krista Short of Shediac Cape; his son Greg Thibodeau (Angie) of Sarnia, ON; grandchildren Christopher, Amy, Meghan, Samuel, Emilee, Olivia, and Abigail; great grandson Nathaniel; as well as foster siblings Eddie, Frances, and Hazel Sullivan.

His family will be receiving friends and relatives for visitation at Cobb’s Funeral Home at 330 Whitepine Road in Riverview (869-2007) on Tuesday, July 27th from 6-8pm. A funeral mass will take place the following day at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 28th at 2pm with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. For those of you wishing to attend the funeral mass, please contact the funeral home at 869-2007 or email [email protected] with your name, phone number, and how many people are in your group (bubble). In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA would be appreciated by Basil’s family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
