Lillian Josephine Buzzell, 96, of Moncton, NB, passed away on July 29, 2021.Born in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, October 1, 1924, she was the eldest daughter of the late Leofred (George) and Carrie (McFadden) Nowlan.

Lillian graduated from Bridgedale High School at the age of 16 and enrolled in the Success Business College in Moncton where she took bookkeeping. After graduating, she was hired by the CNR and worked there until her marriage to her Husband, Robert Charles Buzzell. Raising their family and joining her husband in their "Electro and Lani" magic shows was an integral part of Lillian’s life when their daughters were young. She managed one of Moncton’s first garden centres in the early 70’s and the first stand alone Christmas Shop in the Moncton area.

She was an avid sportswoman throughout her life. She taught her daughters how to play tennis at their summer residence in Cape Brule, was a long-time member and past President of the Beaver Ladies Curling Club and represented the province at a Seniors curling championship held in Fredericton.  She took up cross-country and downhill skiing at the age of 60, bowled for many years, and golfed into her early 90’s. A firm believer of being fit, she continued to participate in exercise classes and walking for fitness well into her mid-90’s.

Lillian’s faith was extremely important to her, demonstrated through her regular attendance and worship at St. Bernard’s and Holy Family Parishes and her involvement with the Catholic Women’s League (CWL).  As a past resident of Peoples Park Tower, she continued to attend mass on a regular basis.

She loved travelling and cruising the world, taking many "trips of a lifetime" with her family and became a Florida snowbird for a couple of decades. Lillian was an avid and talented bridge player most of her life and loved the many long-standing friendships she made while playing in Moncton, at her cottage in Cape Brule and her winter residence in Florida.

Lillian will be sadly missed by her sister, Carrie (Nowlan) Doyle of Montreal, PQ; and her four daughters and their families, Barbara Morrison ( Wm. Harold), Kimberley, BC; Nancy Buzzell, Moncton, NB; Lesley Carruthers (David), Port Hawkesbury, NS; and Patti Buzzell (Johannes Hylkema), Moncton.  Lillian also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert Charles Buzzell in 1979, and her older brother, Emery Nowlan.

Lillian’s family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to the Moncton Hospital Staff especially the Palliative Care Unit.

There will be no visitation.  Funeral Mass to take place at Holy Family Parish, Moncton N.B. on Monday Sept.13,2021 at 11:00 am with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. The service will be recorded and will be available for viewing that evening on the funeral home website.  Interment at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
