It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Terry McSheffrey on October 31, 2022, who died peacefully at home with his family by his side. Terry was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer in June 2022. He fought a short but courageous battle.

Terry is the son of Agnes McLaughlin-McSheffrey and the late Herbie McSheffrey of Wakefield, Quebec.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 22 years, Lorna and his twins, Cole, and Madison, at home; Siblings, twin sister Teresa, Moncton, Victor (Mary) Ottawa and Peter (Kelly) Winchester, Ontario.

Terry dedicated 42 years in the fire alarm industry, starting with Edwards in Ottawa, as a technician, group leader and later sales. In 2011, he moved to New Brunswick to work with Troy Life and Fire Safety Ltd in sales. He loved his work and many of his customer have become long time friends.

Terry loved being a dad, teaching his children how to ski, drive a car and changing a tire. He spent his time at Maddy’s soccer games, coaching Cole’s soccer teams over several summers and hanging out with the kids. The family enjoyed many trips together, Skiing in Quebec and North Conway, Florida, Hawaii, most recently Spain and France for Terry’s 60th Birthday. We are a family that enjoyed spending time together.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, motorcycling, his mom’s butterscotch pie, Friday nights at home with Lorna and watching the games of his beloved Ottawa Senators.

We would like to thank:

The George Dumont Hospital’s Oncology team, especially Dr. Eve St-Hilaire, the Emergency Department, and the Palliative Department for their compassion and caring, when we needed it most.

Extra Mural Nursing Team

John and Janet McEvoy for their love and support.

Pierre Boucher and Etienne Gregoire and Johnny for their Road Trip Weekend that met so much to Terry.

In keeping with Terry’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Second Celebration of Life will be held in Ottawa on November 12th, at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa.

In lieu of flowers, donation in Terry's memory can be made to Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department, 330 University Avenue, Moncton, New Brunswick.

Terry had a brave, compassion and caring heart with a warm smile that will remain forever in our hearts and memories.

There is no more pain and suffering, just love from a life well lived.  Our Dear Terry, rest in peace knowing how much we love you.  Our beautiful memories of our time together will comfort us through our loss.  After the grief, there is only love.

Love Your Goldilocks, Cole & Maddy.
