It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of Krista
Powers of Riverview on December 8th at the
Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of William J. and Nicole
(Martin) McNichol.
Krista enjoyed a full life from a young age. As a girl she
learned to figure skate, eventually becoming a certified judge for
competitions just shy of Olympic level. From the time she was a child,
she would play "teacher", setting up classrooms of toys to
practice with. As she grew, she worked towards this dream by achieving
a BA in French and English from Mount Allison University. She spent a
year in France as an exchange student with Mt. Allison before
obtaining a B.Ed from UNB. She was adventurous and enjoyed trying new
foods. She liked watching cooking shows and, though she could have
infamously "burned water" before meeting him, learned to
cook from her husband. Reading was a favourite hobby of hers and she
had a well-stocked library.
Besides her parents, left to mourn her loss are her husband
of 10 years Scott, sisters Judith Louise (Jonathan) and Jami-Lyn
(Pierre) McNichol, sister-in-law Melanie (Mo) Elhossainy,
brother-in-law Andrew (Kathryn) Powers, parents-in-law John and
Margaret Powers, nieces and nephews Gabriel, Liam, Jameson, Walker,
Mya, and Mira, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as her
many friends.
Krista’s family would like to thank the nurses of
Clinic C at The Moncton Hospital, the nursing staff in 3A ICU at
Victoria General, and Dr. Walsh of Victoria General. Your kindness,
support, and care were a comfort both to Krista and her
family.
Her family will receive friends and relatives on Monday,
December 19, 2022 from 6-8pm at Cobb’s Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (869-2007). A service to
celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, December
20th at 11am at Holy Family Church, 52 Falkland
St, Moncton (386-6178) with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. Masks are
mandatory for both events. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Liver
Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated by her family.
