It is with great sadness
that the family of John K. Lockwood announces his passing at the Grass
Nursing home on April 18, 2024. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the
late John (Truin) and Thelma (Smith)
Lockwood.
John was a retired
engineer for the Moncton Foundry and Machine. He was a member of St.
Bernard's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. John
and Diane enjoyed travelling together to many places over the years
and spent many winters at their home in Florida. He enjoyed
sailing and golf. In 1971 he built a 34-foot sailing yacht
solo, which was one of his proudest accomplishments. He was also an
avid Ham radio operator and most nights the call sign VE9KC would be
on the air.
John was the last
surviving member of his immediate family. Aside from his parents, he
was predeceased by his wife Diane (Letterick) Lockwood and Brother
James (Jim) Lockwood (Annette), sister Mary (Harold) Bailey, and
brother-in-law Carl Steeves.
He will be missed by
sister-in-law Bonnie Steeves, Nephews Gregory (Margaret) Steeves,
Geoffrey (Mary) Steeves, and Niece Tracey (Ralph) Steeves, in addition
to great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to
thank the staff of Grass Nursing Home for their excellent care over
the past year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harvest
House or a charity of the donor's choice.
A time to celebrate
John's life and share memories will take place on Monday, April 22,
2024 at 2:00 pm at Cobb's Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 330
Whitepine Road Riverview, NB (506-869-2007). Online
condolences can be made at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
