With heavy hearts we announce, George Baker of Riverview
passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, September 4, 2015. Born in
Fredericton Junction, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Joyce
(MacEachern) Baker.
George was a dedicated employee of VIA Rail for 35 years and
was the current local Unifor president (Council 4000). He was a true
outdoorsman who enjoyed everything from camping, fishing, fiddlehead
picking to long motorcycle rides. Let’s not forget his
favourite hockey team, which he faithfully cheered on, the Montreal
Canadiens and his love for Sunday NASCAR. But George was his happiest
spending time with and cooking for his 3 daughters who he dearly loved
and was very proud of.
He will be dearly missed by his three loving daughters,
Christa (Greg Diamond), Katelyn (Kirk Murray), Lesley, and the mother
of his children, Catherine Beale, all of Riverview; sisters, Isabelle
Baker of Moncton, Debbie (Bob) Trecartin of Saint John; brother, Rick
(Dawn) of Edmundston; and his three nieces and four nephews.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd.,
Riverview, NB (869-2007) on Tuesday from 6:30 – 9:00pm with
parish prayers and sharing of memories taking place at 8:30pm. A
service celebrating George’s life will take place from
Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September
9, 2015 at 11:00am with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Donations
may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation. Online
