Marjorie I. Ratcliffe passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 31, at her residence at Lakeview Tower, Riverview, at the age of 89.

Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jenny (Brooks) Finlay. She was a graduate of Saint John High School and Saint John Business College. She worked as a secretary and library assistant prior to her retirement. She was a long-standing member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, and was very active with A.C.W. as well as the Professional Engineers’ Wives Club.

Her passions included reading, playing bridge with her friends, family gatherings, and she was always keen for day trips and picnics, especially near the ocean.

She will be fondly remembered by her daughters, Heather LeBlanc of Moncton, and Ruth Ratcliffe of Alberta; her son Larry Ratcliffe (Sandy) of Shediac Cape; six loving grandchildren - Karen Rawlines, Mark Rawlines, Megan Ratcliffe (son Jackson), Sarah Ratcliffe, Christopher Ratcliffe and Jesse Fowler.

She was predeceased by her husband Maurice Ratcliffe in 1996; her parents; brothers Bert and Raymond Finlay; and sister Helen Fogan. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Also survived by sisters-in-law Joyce Williams, Dot Ratcliffe and Phyllis Ratcliffe, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, (869-2007) on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 6-8 p.m. Service celebrating Marjorie’s life will take place at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church (28 Woolridge Dr., Riverview), on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m.

Donations to St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Alzheimer’s Society NB, or to the memorial of choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
