Susan Bell (nee Goldsborough), 76, of Moncton, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Charlotte (Browne) Goldsborough.
Susan had a rich and vibrant life, looking after her family and raising her three beloved children. An active curler for many years, the Beaver Curling Club still holds fond memories for the family. Artistic, creative, and self-taught, Susan sewed her own evening dresses, cut and colored hair for friends and family, and painted detailed, life-sized Christmas window murals each year on her living room picture window - to name just a few of her many talents. And it’s safe to say that no one could top her skills in the kitchen. Additionally, she was a voracious reader, and loved to learn, staying up-to-date on the latest news and world events.
She is survived by her very special friend and confidante, Gerry White; her daughter, Beven Leger (Charles); son, Michael Bell (Colleen); daughter Lindsay Bell-Wheeler (Drew); grandchildren, Sarah (Logan), Sam, Meghan, Beckett, Mark and Kaitlyn; and her friend and father of her children, Eric Bell (Lorraine). She had a special bond with her much loved sister Peggy (Wayne), and also leaves behind her brother Tommy (Beverly) and sister Gibby (John).
Her large, extended family in the United States stretches from Boston to Baltimore to California, and includes many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews whom she adored, and visited yearly. As one of her nieces said, "She was one of my favorite people of all times. I will never forget her joy and laughter and silliness. She had a feisty spirit and is proof that good things come in small packages."
The family would especially like to thank the professional team of doctors and nurses at the Moncton Hospital for their exceptional care, as well as the compassion they showed Susan during this difficult time.
Susan enjoyed the simple things and loved a good old-fashioned backyard gathering. And that is reflected in her last wishes. There will not be a service, but the family is planning and will announce details of a celebration of her life, her laughter, and her love of friends and family, in the near future.
In memory of Susan, donations in her name to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) Online condolences can be left at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca.
