
Pointe-du-Chene, Edgar Hachey passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Friday, December 11, 2020. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Edgar Henry Hachey Sr., and the late Leona (nee Theriault) Hachey. Beside his parents, Edgar was predeceased by his sister Marie Syrie, and his two brothers Donald Hachey and Blair Hachey.
Edgar will be dearly missed by his wife Margaret of 55 years, his son Christopher (Lori) and his three grandchildren Jonathan, Alexandria and William, as well as his only living brother Eric (Patricia) Hachey of Pembroke, Ontario.
In 1958, Edgar taught Grade 9 classes at the Sunbury West Regional High School for one year. He then decided to further his education at the University of New Brunswick and then the Universite de Moncton.
In 1963, he started a career in the pharmaceutical industry with Abbott Laboratories, Ltd. that lasted thirty-four years.
In 1997, Edgar retired and enjoyed 23 years of six months in Florida. Edgar was President of the Canadian Club in On-Top-of the World (OTOW) in Clearwater, Florida that encompassed over 350 members.
Edgar was sports oriented: was a great curler and belonged to the Beausejour Curling Club, was an avid lawn bowler in Moncton and Florida, golfer, enjoyed boating, biking, skiing and loved to travel. Edgar’s pastime – gardening! He received praises from every passer-by about his grooming gardening skills.
One of the highlights of his career was being inducted in the Moncton Wall of Fame with his CYHI/CYO Basketball Team in 2013. The members of this special team became a very important element in Edgar’s life and remain, to this day, supportive friends to each and every member.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007). A farewell service will be held in the Spring of 2021 for family and friends.
When God calls – there is no turning back the clock! Make each day a great one – full of joy and happiness! That is the way Edgar lived – that is all that is important – family and friends!
