Barbara Ann Coates, of Coverdale, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on May 5, 2021 at the age of 82.

A graduate of Salisbury High School, the New Brunswick Teachers College, and the University of Moncton, Barb spent thirty-five years as an educator in the New Brunswick public school system, a career of which she was immensely proud.

Generous, determined and ever curious, her interests were broad – from playing and refereeing basketball, to competitive bowling, harvesting dulse on Deer Island, participating in weekly card tournaments, creating award-winning quilts, solving murders with Jessica Fletcher, rooting for the Blue Jays and most especially, enjoying her role as Nanny.

Born to the late Ted and Barbara (Mesheau) Kitchen, she is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ronald Coates; children Terry (Patti), Peter and Todd (Holly); and beloved grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, Tera, Jenna, Dakota, Charley, Daxton, Madison, Jace, Ellie and Westley.  She is also survived by her siblings, Joel, Judy and Arthur.

At per her wishes, a private graveside service has taken place at the Wesleyan Union Cemetery in Coverdale.  To remember Barb, perhaps thank a teacher and give your family and friends an extra hug today.  Barbara’s arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007).  Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
