Chris Smith, of Dieppe, passed
away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at The Moncton
Hospital.
Born in Calcutta, India he was
the son of Clifford and Brenda (Grose) Smith. Chris spent the majority
of his life in Ontario but in 2018 began a new adventure when the
family moved to New Brunswick, a place he
loved.
Chris enjoyed travelling with
Helen and Alec and they enjoyed many vacations together. His
favourite was the five week tour of the US Southwest with Helen where
they visited the Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion National Parks as well
as family and friends in Montana and Minnesota. Chris enjoyed playing
darts and always hoped he would be able to play again. However,
nothing made him happier than spending time with his family. Life took
a devastating turn for Chris in 2017 but he fought back and overcame a
critical illness and was so grateful for each day he had. Despite the
physical handicaps that life threw at him, he never lost his sense of
humour, his zest for life or his strength to survive and be with the
family he loved. Despite the distance, Chris kept in contact with
family and friends in Ontario and enjoyed sharing his news and keeping
up with theirs.
In addition to his parents,
Chris is loved and remembered by his wife of 21 years Helen (Carson)
Smith, much loved son Alec Smith, brother George (Tracey Monahan)
Smith and his children Nathaniel and Sabrina, mother-in-law Violet
Carson, brother-in-law Bill Carson (deceased) and his wife Debbie
Carson-Lowry and their children William, Jaime and Andrew and well as
numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will be receiving
relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation
Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday, May 26,
2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will take place at
Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 5 Fatima Dr Riverview, on Thursday at
12:00 pm Atlantic time (11:00 am Ontario) with Fr. Phil Mulligan
officiating. For those attending his service, please call the funeral

be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The live-stream will be done to our parish
grouping’s Facebook page. That is ‘Saint
Elizabeth of the Trinity’, and the link is https://www.facebook.com/SaintElizabethoftheTrinity
For people to connect to the live-stream, they can click on
that link on the morning of the funeral and within 30 seconds or so of
when we start the live-stream, the video will appear and they can
click on ‘play’ and join us live. This
will work regardless of whether or not someone has a Facebook
account.
Another option is to go to our website, www.setmoncton.com
and there will be a link right there to take them to the same place in
Facebook and so to the live-stream.
We will start the live-stream
around 11:50 a.m. to give people a chance to find the stream and get
connected, so that they are ready when the funeral begins at
noon
