With heavy hearts and sadness we announce the passing of W. Blair Dolan, husband of the late Mary (McCaffery) Dolan, of Riverview, NB on Saturday, June 12, 2021.
Born in Douglasfield (Miramichi), he was the eldest son of Wilfred Dolan and Winifred "Winnie" Driscoll and the step son of the late Ray Driscoll.
Blair started his career assembling locks at the Yale Lock Company in St. Catherine’s, Ontario. He quickly used his product knowledge, work ethic and winning personality to excel in sales. Blair moved on to the Sargent Lock Company as their Vice President of Sales in the late 60’s. His dream was always to move back home and start his own Manufacture Agency. In 1969, Blair along with his wife Mary formed Atlantic Hardware Consultants. He became an Architectural Hardware Consultant, writing hardware specifications with Architects for buildings all over Atlantic Canada. Blair was a self-made man. His customers were his friends, his employees were his family. Blair helped many customers and employees achieve their Architectural Hardware Designation (AHC). Blair was proud that after he retired, their company would carry forward and prosper with Terry, Lana, Cathy, Melanie and the Atlantic Hardware family.
Blair and Mary loved to travel, excelled at golf, enjoyed camping and spending time at their cottage in Miramichi with family and friends.
Blair will be deeply missed by sisters: Margaret Blackmore (Sterling), Mary Agnes Stewart (late Carman) all of Nordin, NB; Anne Gray (Bill) of Miramichi, NB; Step sisters Agnes Siscoe (late Bob) of Tracy, PQ. and Eileen Rouse (Bill) of Thorold, ON; special niece Cathy McCaffery and great niece Melanie Longley, great nephew Jeremy McCaffery, nephew Terry Dolan , his wife Lana, their children Ali and Liam, and a special friend Eliotte Porelle of Shediac, NB. Blair was a favourite son, brother, and uncle for his entire family.
Besides his parents and his wife, Blair was predeceased by his nephew Daniel "Danny" McCaffery, whom he raised like a son; brother Nicholas Dolan, step brothers: Pat, Carl, Greg and Charlie Driscoll and step sisters Annie Esson, Kay Taylor and Frances Beaupre.
At Blair’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. A private mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to a charity of the Donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
