Warren Whitehouse, 84,
of Riverview passed away at home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021
surrounded by his loving family. Born in South Ohio,
Yarmouth County, NS, he was the son of the late Osborne and Ophelia
(Nichols) Whitehouse.
WR was a retired air
traffic controller with 33 years of service, prior to which he served
with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was an avid hunter, guide, and
fly fisherman who thoroughly enjoyed finding the best pools. He loved
spending time with friends at various hunting camps, and would
sometimes actually hunt! He was also a huge fan of harness racing and
owned several race horses that he trained during his time in the
sport. Whether charcoal, propane grill, or kitchen stove he was an
excellent chef who kept his family fat and happy! Each shirt he owned
had a "magic pocket" with treats for both grandkids and
granddogs. He was also a master of quick wit and sarcasm, which his
children, and grandchildren may or may not have inherited
;)
Warren will be dearly
missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia (Pat); his daughter
Lisa Gaboury of Dartmouth, NS, son Jeff Whitehouse (Heather) of
Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren Keira and Cody and several nieces and
nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate
family. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by
sisters Lavina (Griffin) Hubley, Thelma (Willard) Killam; and brothers
Ansel (Cora), Gordon (Doris) and Osborne (Marion).
The family would like
extend heartfelt thanks to Dr Marie-Helene Thibeault, Kathy Reviczki,
NP and their amazing receptionist Trinda; Dr Pierre O'Brien
and his oncology team; and also to Extra Mural, especially Barb, RN,
and Dr Pam Mansfield and the palliative care team. The care provided
by all was so appreciated.
His family will be
receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and
Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview on Thursday, June
24th from 6-8 pm. A service to share
memories and celebrate his life will take place at the funeral home on
