Sylvia Wood passed away peacefully at Moncton City Hospital
on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the age of 93.
Born in New Glasgow NS, she grew up in St. Paul's, Pictou
County, the daughter of Prescott and Mary (MacMillan) Archibald. She
moved to Moncton as a young woman to work at Eaton's and met her
future husband Albert (Bud) Wood at a dance in Albert County. They had
a mutual love of music and dancing which continued throughout
their lives.
She was a lifetime member of the United Church Women, the New
Brunswick Women's Institute and a volunteer at the Albert County
Action Food Bank.
She found happiness in the simple things such as baking and
gardening. Chances are that on a summer Sunday morning the flowers in
Coverdale United Church were grown and arranged by
her.
Sylvia maintained her youthful enthusiasm and positive
outlook despite life's challenges. After being widowed she made many
new friends at the Moncton Legion and the Salisbury Merry Makers. She
also travelled from coast to coast with her companion, Ron
Geldart.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters
Cecily Rasmussen (Ken) of Irishtown, Charlotte Wood (Grimur Ardal) of
Toronto, and three grandchildren Allison Ardal (Adam Capoferri), Owen
Ardal(Evelyn Lee) all of Toronto and Luke Rasmussen of
Irishtown.
Predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers Hubert,
Irving and Gerald, her husband Albert Wood and her companion Ron
Geldart.
Her family will be receiving friends and relatives on
Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 1:30-3:00 pm at Cobb’s Funeral
