Lori LeBlanc (Robinson) passed away peacefully with her
family by her side at Albert House Hospice on Monday, August
30th after a 12 month battle with
cancer.
Born in Moncton in 1968 she was the devoted daughter of
Joseph and June Robinson (McGivery).
She graduated from UNB in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science
majoring in Honours Mathematics and a minor in Physics.
After graduation she continued her education in Actuarial Science,
becoming an Associate of the Society of Actuaries in
1992.
She began her professional career in the Actuarial Department
with Blue Cross in 1990, working her way up to the position of
Director, Actuarial Services and Underwriting.
In 2007, she made the decision to follow her passion for
education and became the Executive Director of Unicorn
Children’s Centre, after many years of serving on the
volunteer Board of Directors.
In 2009 she discovered the world of Mad Science Worldwide and
began working with Mad Science of the Maritimes teaching interactive
STEM after school programs. This proved to be the perfect job match
for her and she eventually became 50% owner of the Maritimes franchise
and worked tirelessly to grow the program. She loved Mad Science and
the incredible, dedicated "Mad Scientists" with which she
surrounded herself. The program and her staff were her pride and joy
and thousands of children have benefited from their dedication and
enthusiasm.
Lori is survived by her best friend and husband Dave, her son
Zack, daughter Sophie, and her black lab Rosie, her parents Joe and
June Robinson, brothers David Robinson (Kim) and Steve Robinson
(Aileen), mother in law Evelyn LeBlanc and her "sisters"
Lucie Bourque and Kristi Howard and several nephews and
nieces.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Dr. Leon
Richard Oncology Centre, especially Dr. Joel Gray, Dr. Robyn Comeau
and Majella Gallant and the incredible staff of the Albert House
Palliative Hospice who became like family to us in the short period of
time we spent with them.
