William Frederick Stewart of Moncton, formerly of Campbellton, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2021 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in 1929, in Atholville, NB, he was the son of the late Donald and Mary (Bujold) Stewart and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Bill was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing the Restigouche and Renous Rivers.  

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Dorothy (McGrath); children, Nancy (Daniel) Coffin, Douglas (Donna), Susan (Donald) Downs, Ellen, Barbara (Douglas) Gayton; grandchildren, Devin (Jenn) Coffin, Katie (Rory) Beck, Michael Coffin (Kristi Pickering), Lesley  Downs (Jeff Decker), Jock and Nicholas Downs and Craig Gayton, and step-grandchildren Jillian and Dereck Hashey; great-grandchildren, Sadie and Isla Coffin; Malcolm and Daisy Beck; MacKenzie Decker and Lucy Coffin, and step-great-grandchildren Anna and Laura Stewart.  Also survived by his brother George, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Harry, Donald and James; sisters, Annie, Charlene and Stella; three half-sisters, Harriet, Margaret and Tootsie and infant granddaughter Heather Margaret Gayton.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date. His arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007). Donations in memory of Bill can be made to the Atlantic Salmon Federation.
