Peacefully surrounded by his daughters, Edward (Ted) Riordan’s "soul" left this earth April 25, 2022 at the age of 91 years young.

The memory of Ted will be cherished by his daughters Dr. Colleen Riordan (DDS) and Patricia Riordan-Lowe (RN), Brother Lt Col CD (Retired) James Riordan, Grand-children Karolynn, Krystopher, Bradleigh, Stephanie, Eric, Evan and Great-Grand-children Oliver and Tucker; as well as numerous relatives and dear friends.

Ted was predeceased by his wife Theresa (Terry) in 1981.

Ted was born in Bath, NB he was the son of the late James Leo Riordan of Saint John, NB and the late Mary Gertrude Riordan (Commins) of Bath, NB. He  was raised and educated in Halifax, NS and completed his Bachelor of Commerce Degree at St Mary’s University in 1952. During his first year of university, he joined the Saint Mary’s University Contingent of the Canadian Officers Training Corps (COTC). In 1951, he enlisted in the Regular Force Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and upon integration of the Canadian Forces, he was assigned to the Logistics Branch in 1968.

Ted’s career of 33 years in uniform gave him the opportunity to serve in many Canadian locations including tours of duty in White Horse Yukon, Gagetown NB, Mount Allison University NB, Kingston Ont, Ottawa Ont, as well as overseas as a British Exchange Officer. Ted’s final posting was to 5 Canadian Forces Supply Depot here in Moncton NB in 1977.

Ted retired from the Forces in December 1981 and was then granted the position of Depot Support Officer (Civilian Officer) where he served an additional 15 years until his final retirement in June 1996.

During his illustrious career, Ted was bestowed with a number of awards and commendations including; Maritime Commanders’ Commendation, Moncton Commemorative Medallion and the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada. In 1993, he was inducted into the Order of Fellow Logisticians and ultimately, a recipient of the 35 Year and the 45 Year Public Service Medallion.

Ted was a devout Roman Catholic and attended both Saint Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church and Holy Family Parish. He was also a member of the Probus Club of Greater Moncton, the Air force Veteran’s Club, the Riverview Veteran’s and Armed Forces Association, the Dieppe Military Veteran’s Association, the Royal Canadian Legion (No 6), the National Association of Federal Retirees and the Moncton Press Club.

He enjoyed travelling, particularly cruising and guided bus tours as well as trips to Halifax for family gatherings.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family RC Church 52 Falkland Dr. Moncton, on Tuesday, May 3rd at 11:00am with a Celebration of Life immediately following in the Parish Hall.

Memorial Donations may be made in Ted’s name to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, the Cancer Society or to the Albert House (Hospice)
