Darrell Frederick O’Pray, age 77, passed away
peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2022 in Riverview, NB following many
years of battling through severe heart issues. Despite this, he
continued to fight to the end with never a complaint to be heard. Born
in Truro, NS he was the son of the late George S. and Helen (Connolly)
O’Pray.. Darrell was a graphic artist at heart which could
be seen on the Town of Riverview’s RHS Royals Zamboni as
well as his being known for his impeccable handwriting. In his early
years he was a world-class candlepin bowler and an avid tennis player.
After a few different career stops he found his true calling as an
addictions counsellor at the Dorchester penitentiary, a vocation he
truly loved. He attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Above all else he was kind and thoughtful to everyone, his Happy
Birthday singing calls were legendary. Besides his parents,
Darrell is predeceased by his wife Bernadette and brother David. He is
survived by his children Michael (Adrienne), Aundrea, Ian,
grandchildren Harrison, Sophie, Stella, and Zoe as well as
a
sister Carol.
His family will be receiving friends and relatives on
Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 6 – 8 pm at Cobb’s
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview
(869-2007). A service celebrating Darrell’s life will take
place from the funeral home on Friday, May 13th
at 11 AM with Father Charles Broderick officiating..
Face Masks are encouraged for both
events. A special thank you to Dr. Peter
Stodddard, Dr. Dan Landry, Dr. Ron Bourgeois, staff of The Moncton
Hospital Heart Clinic and the staff of Monarch Hall for their care and
support for Darrell. Donations made to Pro Kids, and Mental Health
Organization or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated
by his family.
