Jean Ruth (Fogg) Cherry, 89, of Riverview, formerly of
Augusta, ME and North Easton, MA, passed away on Tuesday, September
20, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Originally from Brockton, MA, she
was the daughter of George Samuel Fogg (deceased) and Bernice (Cox)
Fogg (deceased). She is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence David
Cherry, in 2012 and her sister Mary (Fogg) Bonjokian in
2008.
Jean was an avid reader and loved to play bridge. She was
always active in her children's lives serving as den mother in Scouts,
cooking for potluck dinners and what ever other tasks that she could
help with. Jean had a diverse working career that included a donut
shop, an operator at a phone company, a real estate agent, and she
owned her own ceramic business where she taught classes for many years
in Augusta. Jean was also very active at Mount Royal United Church
Women serving for many years as Treasurer.
She will be deeply missed by her sons, Christopher (Victoria)
of Kennebunk, ME and Brian (Carol) of Scarborough, ME and
daughter, Candace Scott (Randy) of Riverview, NB, grandchildren David,
Thomas, Benjamin, Amanda, Abigail, Alexander, Meredith and Samuel,
great-grandchildren Fynnleigh, Bentley, Savannah, Ruth and Norah, and
several nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends and visitors at Cobb's
Funeral home, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview on Friday, September 30th
from 6-8pm. A funeral service will take place at Cobb's Funeral Home
on Saturday, October 1st at 11:30am with Rev. Scott Stuart
officiating. For those unable to attend the service it will
be live-streamed. The internment will take place at Alderwood Cemetery
following the service. Donations to The Friends of the Moncton
Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated by the
family.
