It is with great sadness that the family of Philip Mix of Riverview shares the news of his passing at his home on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Born in River Hebert East, NS, he was the son of Reta Mix (nee Mansour) and the late Donald H. Mix.

Phil graduated with his Bachelor of Laws degree from UNB in 1974; and following his graduation, he became a partner in the law firms of Mitton, Mitton, & Mix and Mix Cantini, both of Moncton. He would later earn his Masters of Law from Dalhousie University and practiced law in Nova Scotia for several years.

Phil excelled in sports in his youth and came to enjoy two sports through the years – golf in the summer and curling in the winter. As an accomplished golfer, he was a member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club for many years and a former member of the Beaver Curling Club. In his retirement years, Phil would spend hours absorbed in a classic novel or historical book or watching the Chicago Black Hawks and Toronto Blue Jays, surrounded by his five cats. Phil especially enjoyed family gatherings and sharing his whit, humor and knowledge. In his later years, Phil often expressed gratitude for his partner Judy’s love and care. Phil was so very proud of his two children, Adam and Amy, and his grandchildren were the "apple of his eye."

Besides his loving mother Reta Mix, he is survived by his partner of 12 years, Judy Slade; son Adam Mix (Kathryn); daughter Amy Mix (Colin Morrison); sisters, Lil Harris (late John) and Ruth Ross (Patrick); grandchildren Jackson, Liam, Harper, Zoey and Scott; step-daughter Lisa Crowley (Steve Blanchard); step-daughter-in-law Ashleigh; step-grandchildren Rebecca, Nick, Dylan, Zoe and Sloan; stepmom, Carole, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Donald; brother in law, John; and step-son, Preston.

To respect Phil’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. A private graveside service will take place in Grey’s Island Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview, NB (869-2007). Donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
