Brenda Lee Fitzgerald of Riverview passed away at The Moncton
Hospital on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the age of 73 after a
short but very courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Nellie
(MacDonald) and Harry Wallace.
She will be sadly missed by her son Ryan, brothers Harry
(Laverna) and Bob (Sandra) Wallace, as well as many special nieces,
nephews, and friends – especially her fabulous Golden
Girls.
Brenda was predeceased by her husband Patrick in 1997, after
which she was left to raise their only child. Ryan was
Brenda’s life; they were inseparable and did everything
together.
A graduate of The Moncton Hospital School of Nursing
– Class of 1971 and a Member of The Moncton Hospital School
of Nursing Alumnae, she was a nurse at The Moncton Hospital throughout
her entire working career, serving as Nurse Manager for many of those
years. Her big heart and compassion for others made her outstanding in
the position. Brenda was well respected among her nursing and medical
staff colleagues.
Growing up, she loved to play sports. As an adult, curling
became a big part of her life. Brenda loved to play cards, games, and
was a big follower of the NFL, NHL, and MLB. She was also known to put
a few dollars down to keep the games interesting.
The family would like to thank the staff of 4200 and 3600 for
the excellent care she received during her stay at the hospital. A
special Thank You to her dear friend Laura Whitmee, who was of
immeasurable support to Brenda and the family during this difficult
time.
Per her wishes, her family will receive friends and relatives
to celebrate her life on Wednesday, November
30th from 6-8pm at Cobb’s Funeral
Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (869-2007). A
private graveside service will take place at a later
date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Humanity Project or your
local SPCA/PAW (People for Animal Wellbeing) would be appreciated. She
felt very strongly about the work done by these
organizations.
