It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Herman 82,
of Riverview, formerly of Oxford Junction, NS who left us to go to his
heavenly home from the Villa Providence Nursing Home with his family
by his side on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Born in
Springhill, NS he was the son of the late Hilda Darragh and the late
Herman Weirich Sr.
Herman’s love for his family was so
immense. There was nothing he would not do for his
girls.
He spent his entire career with CNR and VIA Rail until his
early retirement due to health reasons. Even in retirement he kept
busy helping keep the home front running as our late mother worked
long and tireless hours from the home based accounting
office. They complimented each other so
beautifully. He was a member of the Highfield Baptist Church
since 1964 and served on the deacon board and as treasurer for a
number of years.
He is survived by his two daughters Wendy (Marc) and Tammy
(Shawn), sister Winnie McCormick (Roger), grandchildren Daniel, Brent,
Charlie, and Rebeca, and great grandson William. He was
predeceased by his wife Carole, brother Ronnie Slack, and sister Linda
Brown (Denton).
Herman’s family would like to thank the staff of O
Bon Soin and Villa Providence for the wonderful care that he received
while there.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday, November
30th from 6-8 pm. A funeral service
will take place at Highfield United Baptist Church on Thursday,
December 1, 2022 at 11am with Pastor Gary Barr officiating.
The interment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Oxford, NS at
a later date. Donations made to the Heart Foundation and the
Cancer Society would be appreciated by his family.
