JANUARY 15, 2023 AT 2:00PM****
David (Dave) Dixon died peacefully in his sleep on January
11, 2023, at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was the son of
the late Russell and Alice (Weldon).
Survived by his wife Nancy (McBeath), daughter Tami
O’Blenis (Randy), son Mike Dixon (Tricia), grandchildren
Miranda O'Donnell (Mackenzie) and Liam and Drew Dixon, brother John
Dixon, and many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, and
nephews.
At the age of 17 Dave joined the Canadian Armed Forces
(Navy), serving for 5 years and sailing on the
HMCS Chaudiere, Terra Nova, and La Hulloise.
He then became a firefighter with Transport Canada at the
Moncton Airport and retired as a Captain after 30
years.
Ever too energetic to be idle for long, he began working
"temporarily" at St Paul's United Church in Riverview and
after 17 years he retired once again at the age of 70 but continued to
be a volunteer and mentor.
Dave was recently honoured by the Moncton Gun Club for his 40
years as an active member of the skeet and trap shooting community. He
enjoyed the camaraderie and competition with his friends across the
Maritimes.
He was his grandchildren's number one fan, supporting them in
every aspect of their lives as well as in their many sporting
interests including baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer,
and volleyball.
In the 70’s and 80’s he was a coach and
manager of numerous Riverview Minor Hockey and Baseball teams and was
a member of the Riverview Kinsmen Club.
His family will be receiving friends and relatives at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Friday January 13, 2023, from 5-7pm.
A celebration of life for Dave will take place on
Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 2:00pm at St. Paul’s United
Church, 404 Cleveland Ave. A reception will follow.
Masks are required for both events.
For those unable to attend, the service will be
livestreamed through St. Paul's United Church's Facebook page, found

the last 6 months.

Moncton (SPCA), and/or St. Paul's United Church would be greatly
