Linda Vogels of Riverview passed away on May
7th, 2023 at the Moncton Hospital with her
husband Martin by her side. Born in Amherst, she was the daughter of
the late Roland and Betty (MacDonald) Allen.
Linda started out as a stay-at-home mom for her two boys.
Eventually she worked in banking and as a licensed insurance agent
with South Eastern Mutual Insurance, however, her true love was
teaching. Linda taught business, banking, and computer technology at
Oulton’s Business College, NBCC, and Eastern College (Compu
College). In her spare time, she volunteered with therapeutic
horseback riding, church youth groups, and Support to Single Parents.
A dedicated high school athlete, she was inducted into the Amherst
Sports’ Wall of Fame for curling in 1996. Linda loved to
sing and was a founding member of the Codiac Chords, The Metro Tones
as well as the barbershop quartet Good Time Harmony 4. She was also a
member of the Greater Moncton Chorale. Other interests included
travel, photography, riding horseback, playing bridge and music and
theater of all kinds. She loved to laugh and spend time with her
friends and family and was environmentally aware and
concerned.
She will be sadly missed by her husband Martin, her sons
Chris (Jackie) of Sackville and Hans Peter (Jane) of Toronto as well
as grandchildren Julie Allain (Gabriel) of Bouctouche, Justin and Emma
Vogels and great grandchildren Alexa and Jacob Allain. She is also
survived by her sisters Margo (Brian, dec.) of Amherst and Pat
Hastings (John) of Summerside, nephews David and Scott Hastings and
Andrew Harrison as well as a niece, Michelle Harrison.
Visitation will be held Friday, May
12th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Cobb’s
Funeral Home, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007).
A funeral service will take place Saturday, May
13th at 11 am at the Central United Church, 150
Queen St., Moncton.
