We sadly announce the passing of Doris Henry at her home
residence on May 7, 2023. Born in Fredericton, she was the daughter of
the late Jack and Bessie (Gorman) Dorcas.
Doris was a schoolteacher for over 30 years – a job
that she loved. After moving to Riverview from Fredericton with her
husband, she began teaching at West Riverview where she remained until
her retirement. She enjoyed shopping and really loved finding a deal.
She was dedicated to keeping her hair in perfect condition and loved
going to get it done every other Friday. For the past few years, the
highlight of her week was attending church at Trinity United, where
she could visit with her friends and show off the latest pictures of
her grandson.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband
Neil in 2015 after 47 years of marriage, and their daughter
Heather.
Left to mourn her absence are her son Andrew (Diane) Henry,
brothers Jack (Denise) Dorcas and Brian Dorcas (Mary Louise Smith),
beloved grandson Owen, several nieces and a nephew, and numerous
great-nieces and nephews. She also loved and will be missed by her
neighbors who were such a large part of her life.
Her family would like to send special thanks to
Doris’ dear friend and caregiver Joette Collier, as well as
to her wonderful friends and neighbor Kim, Russel, and their daughter
Kyla.
Doris’ family will receive friends and relatives at
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd,
Riverview (869-2007) on Thursday, May 11th from
10am-12pm and 6pm-8pm. A service celebrating her life will take place
at Trinity United Church, 85 Old Coach Rd, Riverview, on Friday, May
12th at 10am with burial at Fair Haven Cemetery
to follow. Donations in her memory may be made to Trinity United
Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. For those unable
to attend the service, it will be live-streamed and recorded through
the church’s Facebook page, found by clicking
here.
