We sadly announce that Eleanor J. Gibson of Moncton passed away at The Moncton Hospital on May 13, 2023, at the age of 95. Born in Marbleton, QC, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Jeanette (Gilbert) Rolfe.

She served as an Office Manager of London Life and as a private secretary with Ingersoll Rand in Sherbrooke, QC. She attended Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Moncton and St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Sherbrooke, QC. Eleanor was an avid reader and bridge player and was a member of the Lions Senior Bridge and St. Pat’s Bridge in Moncton.

Eleanor will be dearly missed by sons Stephen McDonough (Louen) of Grande Digue, NB, Lawrence McDonough (Cheryl) of Kingston, ON, seven grandchildren Marcia (Mike), Sean, Jason (Jerry), Christopher (Lindsay), Tracey (Graham), Evan (Rosie), Edith (Kenrick), seven great-grandchildren, and three nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Leo McDonough, second husband James H. Gibson, son Daniel McDonough, and brothers Cecil, Reginald, and Elgin Rolfe.

As requested by Eleanor, there will be no public visitation or service. Her arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (869-2007). The interment will take place at a later date in St. Michel’s Cemetery, Sherbrooke, QC. Donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
