It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
Albert McEachern on Monday, May 22, 2023 at The Veteran’s
Health Centre. Born in Webster’s Corner, PE, he
was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Curran)
McEachern.
Albert was one of the founding members of the Parish of
Coverdale Fire Department. He served as Deputy Chief of volunteers
with the Riverview Fire Department for 35 years. Albert’s
careers involved driving bus for SMT, Shell oil, and working in Sales
for Steeves Motors, Del Equipment, and Parts for Trucks before
enjoying his retirement. During Albert’s retirement he
volunteered as a van driver for the Boys and Girls Club afterschool
program, which he loved dearly. Albert was a member of the Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church and 4th degree Knights of
Columbus. He was very active with Riverview Minor Hockey as a coach
and referee for many years. Albert enjoyed camping, bowling,
and he loved joking and teasing everyone he met and especially the
furry friends he encountered.
Albert is survived by his wife Bertha (Murphy) McEachern,
daughter Brenda McEachern, sons Gary and Ronald McEachern (Stacey),
sisters Doris Hartman, Marie MacDonald, Ann Murphy, and Florence
Dalton (Peter), brothers Wayne Smith (Susan), Cecil Villard (Carolyn),
and Joseph MacDougall (Beverly), grandchildren Melissa, Mathew,
Christina, Nicholas, Nancy and Jenna, and great-grandchildren Ava,
Willow, Eva and Olivia, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Gerard
McEachern and Harry Hennessey, and sister Pauline Hughes and their
infant twins, Joseph Albert and Faustina Mary
McEachern.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the
nurses and staff at The Veteran’s Health Centre in Moncton
for their loving care of Albert over the last couple of
years.
Albert’s family will be receiving family and
friends on Sunday, May 28, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm with parish
prayers at 3:30 at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center,
330 Whitepine Road, Riverview, NB (869-2007). A service to
celebrate his life will take place on Monday May 29, 2023 at 11:00 am
at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic
Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian
Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s
choice.
