It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Albert McEachern on Monday, May 22, 2023 at The Veteran’s Health Centre.  Born in Webster’s Corner, PE, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Curran) McEachern.

Albert was one of the founding members of the Parish of Coverdale Fire Department. He served as Deputy Chief of volunteers with the Riverview Fire Department for 35 years. Albert’s careers involved driving bus for SMT, Shell oil, and working in Sales for Steeves Motors, Del Equipment, and Parts for Trucks before enjoying his retirement. During Albert’s retirement he volunteered as a van driver for the Boys and Girls Club afterschool program, which he loved dearly. Albert was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He was very active with Riverview Minor Hockey as a coach and referee for many years.  Albert enjoyed camping, bowling, and he loved joking and teasing everyone he met and especially the furry friends he encountered.

Albert is survived by his wife Bertha (Murphy) McEachern, daughter Brenda McEachern, sons Gary and Ronald McEachern (Stacey), sisters Doris Hartman, Marie MacDonald, Ann Murphy, and Florence Dalton (Peter), brothers Wayne Smith (Susan), Cecil Villard (Carolyn), and Joseph MacDougall (Beverly), grandchildren Melissa, Mathew, Christina, Nicholas, Nancy and Jenna, and great-grandchildren Ava, Willow, Eva and Olivia, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Gerard McEachern and Harry Hennessey, and sister Pauline Hughes and their infant twins, Joseph Albert and Faustina Mary McEachern.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at The Veteran’s Health Centre in Moncton for their loving care of Albert over the last couple of years.

Albert’s family will be receiving family and friends on Sunday, May 28, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm with parish prayers at 3:30 at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview, NB (869-2007).  A service to celebrate his life will take place on Monday May 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
