It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
Douglas Ogilvie of Riverview on July 13, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital.
Born at home in Petitcodiac, he was the son of the late Reid and
Marguerite (Harrison) Ogilvie.
Doug worked for over 35 years with CNR as a boom truck
operator. After retirement he enjoyed his post retirement job at
Walmart where he would come home with his daily
‘’Walmart stories’’. He spent
a happy 12 years working in the garden centre. Doug was also proud of
his several year history teaching hunter education. In his younger
years Doug was an avid hunter both in deer and ducks. He enjoyed
spending time watching birds in his bird feeders and fending off the
invading squirrels. Sunday was NASCAR day and everyone was warned not
to disrupt his race.
Four years ago, Doug and Debbie were able to go to Daytona to
see the big race. He thoroughly enjoyed grocery shopping and was
always a little offended when his wife would go without him. Perhaps
the only place he liked being more than the grocery store was camping
in the RV in Shediac that he called his "happy place".
Before downsizing to his condo in Riverview he took great pride in his
large lawns and flower beds.
Left to remember his life are his wife Debbie, children David
(Chantal), Devon (Anise), Christi-Anne (Kyle), and Stephanie, sister
Anne, brother Paul (Lana), and his grandchildren he so adored Hailey,
Madison, Connor, Caleb, and Isaac. He will also be deeply missed by
his special aunt and uncle Lana and Gordon Douglas. Besides his
parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Cheryl and
Carl.
Doug’s family will receive friends and relatives on
Saturday, July 15th from 6-8pm at Cobb’s Funeral Home and
Cremation Centre, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (869-2007). A service
celebrating his life will take place at the funeral home on Sunday,
July 16th at 2pm. If you so desire, please prepare a short memory or
story about Doug to share, as there will be a time during the service
to do so. Donations to the IWK in his memory would be appreciated by
his family.
