It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara (Barb) Ann Brown of Riverview, NB on September 12th, 2023, at the age of 86.

Barb, also affectionately known as "Barbarella" and "Barbie," exuded a contagious love of life and adventure.

Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Barb was the daughter of the late Florence Moyse and Ernie Keating. She dedicated her life to family, friends, her church, and community of Riverview, NB.

If Barb was not helping a family member or friend, you would likely find her working with one of the many committees she was a member of, or volunteering in the community.

Barb had such a heart for caregiving, she became known as Mother Brown, taking in many people over the years - from air traffic controllers, to hockey players, and many of her children’s friends. Barb also took on the role of unofficial swim-instructor, teaching many of the neighborhood kids how to swim in her pool which was always open to them.

Barb loved to travel, take road trips, and go for lunches with the girls. She devoutly watched her beloved curling and baseball, and had a fondness for card games like bridge and cribbage. Barb was an original member of the Bridge Club in Riverview which started in the sixties. Her grandchildren fondly remember how their Nan often laughed at having a "rotten" hand of cards while playing bridge with her friends. They also cherish memories of playing cards and cribbage together, finding humour in the way losing graciously wasn't always Nan's forte.

Barb's family will savor the memories of her famous spaghetti sauce, as well as her delicious nuts and bolts, and date square recipe she prepared for them often.

Barb took pride in her family, and had the privilege of becoming a great-grandmother three times over. In the last few years, Barb enjoyed gushing over her great-grandchildren and watching them grow.

Barb will be deeply missed by her daughters Patti Ann Brown and Jacqueline Gorber (Jeff Lane), her grandchildren Tyler Canton (Julia), Ashley Praill, Mary Kathleen Brown, Shayna Gorber (Jonathan), and Michael Gorber (Amanda) and her great-grandchildren Leila, Olivia, and Rowan. Barb also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Barb was predeceased by her parents, husband and high school sweetheart Gerard Brown, son Stephen Brown, Aunt Vi Moyse (Ray) and Uncle Leonard Moyse (Norah).

Her family will receive friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday, September 20th from 6-8pm. A service celebrating her life will take place on Thursday, September 21st at 11am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
