It is with sadness that we announce that Eliz Cormier of
Riverview passed away at her residence on Monday, October 16,
2023. Born in Port Elgin she was the daughter of the late W.
Alvin and Bertha (Archibald) Mitton.
Eliz was a lover of life who lived life on her terms and
loved often and out loud. Her bubbly, infectious personality
and laugh were unmistakable and easily recognizable. A
retired teacher, masterclass gardener, an avid reader and enthusiastic
member of the Red Hat Society and IODE, Eliz’s charitable
heart and benevolent spirit were felt by all who were blessed to know
her. A long-time member of Gunningsville Baptist Church and
a woman of faith, she now rests in peace with her Heavenly
Father.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 52 years Harold
(Hal); son Adam Cormier (Sandi); daughter Natalie Cormier (Matt
Breen); sisters Susan Grant (Thomas), Margaret Cooke, Joanne Adsett
(Ernie), Beverly Baughan (Richard); grandchildren Zachary, Owen,
Cameron, Justin and several nieces and nephews.
Aside from her parents she was predeceased by her elder
sister, Frances Bremner.
Eliz’s family will be receiving friends and
relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330
Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Thursday, October 19, 2023
from 6 – 8 pm. A service to celebrate her life
will be held at the Gunningsville Baptist Church on Friday, October
20, 2023 at 3 pm with Rev. Drew Mersereau officiating.
Burial at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery. Donations made
to Harvest House would be appreciated by her family.
