Dorothy Connor of Riverview NB, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 27th 2023, at the Forest Dale Nursing Home. Born in Charlottetown, PE, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Peters) Gallant.
Dorothy received her nursing degree in 1951 from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John. After becoming an RN, she moved to California & New York City with friends to continue her nursing career. She later moved back to Saint John to settle down and married Frank at age 36. Some say she was a "New Age Woman" ahead of her time, establishing her career and then starting her family at age 37 and 39. Dorothy attended the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a member of Ladies Society. Dot loved the card table and spent many years playing Bridge, Rummy, and Auction 45’s. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling, skating, and bingo. Dorothy’s greatest love was her Family. Always up for a great time, she enjoyed great food, and the company of her family.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Frank, daughter Susan of Riverview, son Stephen (Melissa) of Moncton, sister, Jacqueline Bordage London Ontario, & her cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and Alexis, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters; Madeline MacNamara, Claire Gormley, Pearl McMurray and Marjorie Wilson.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview on Friday, November 3rd from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, with parish prayers taking place from the funeral home at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, November 4th at 11 AM, with Father Phil Mulligan presiding. The Family would like to thank the staff of Forest Dale Nursing home for the exceptional care they provided Dorothy over the past 2 years. The interment will take place at Alderwood Cemetery.
