It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of
William Henry Hamilton, affectionately known to his family
and friends as Bill, Billy,
Dad, Pépère, Poppy, and Poppies, on
Thursday, November 9, 2023.
He took his roles very seriously in life; honesty,
commitment, and hard work were his
foundation that he based his life on. Everything he
put his mind to do he accomplished. His love for clothes and people
led him to his chosen vocation for many years in the Retail Clothing
Industry. He began his much-loved profession with a popular locally
owned business Family Outfitters where he was taught "if you
look after your customers, the sales would follow". This
became his motto for success. He later went on to Tip Top
Tailors and Moore’s to pass on his knowledge and skills as
Store and Regional District Manager for many more
years.
Many folks would say Bill was in sales, yet he truly was once
of the best customer service men anyone had the privilege of
knowing. He never forgot a customer’s name and went
above and beyond for them. Using his knowledge gained over the years
and his keen customer service wisdom he ventured out into
entrepreneurship and created his own company, Hamco,
providing valuable customer service to the trucking industry such as
Armour Transport. Amour Transport became his most
valued customer, supplying their drivers with
uniforms and footwear. Staying idle was never in his
vocabulary. Following the sale of his company, he drove cars
for auction companies until the Covid Pandemic… which
according to Bill "forced my retirement at
the young age of 83". He will also be remembered as
a being a good athlete. He was inducted into the
Dieppe Sports Hall of Fame for coaching baseball. He loved the games
of baseball, golf, and hockey. He was a season ticket holder
of the Moncton Wildcats for many years… Go Cats
Go!
Above all, Bill was a family man. He will be deeply
missed by those that loved him most, his family.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary
(Ermen) Hamilton.
Left with fond memories are his wife
Sharon, daughters Cathy and Karen (Kurt), sons Jeff
(Charline) and Michael (Nathalie), step-sons Allan and Christopher
