It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Rita Comfort of Riverview on November 27, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital with her loved ones around her.

Born in Chatham Head, Miramichi, she was the daughter of the late Gregoire and Margaret (Drisdelle) Russell. Rita touched the lives of countless people, family or not. She contributed greatly to her community and family, leaving a void that will never be filled.

Rita is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Owen Comfort, and their children Helena (Rik), Doug (Anne), and Vince (Denis); grandchildren Curtis (Kelsey), Lyndsey (Nick), Daniel (Myriam), Emilie, Natalie; and her beloved great grandson, Reid, who was the light of her life.

Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by siblings Dougie, Bella, and David.

Rita’s family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (506-869-2007) on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm with parish prayers and sharing of memories at 7:30. A service to celebrate her life will take place from the funeral home on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:00 am with Father Phil Mulligan presiding.  Donations made to Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by her family.
