It is with great sadness
that the family of Betty Dixon of Riverview announce her passing on
Sunday, March 31, 2024, at The Briarlea. Born in Dawson Settlement,
she was the daughter of the late Jack and Mabel (Carpenter)
Jonah.
Betty will be dearly missed by
daughters Becky Hink (Dan), Gwen Dixon (Jim Potts), son Jeffrey Dixon
(Nancy); grandchildren Stephanie Linnard (William) and Ian Hink;
sister Sandra Atkinson, nieces Lisa, Charlene, Heather, Heidi, and
Krista, nephews Darrin, Peter and Andrew; and her two great
grandchildren, Eddie and George Linnard. Aside from her parents, she
was predeceased by her husband Howard Dixon, and her sisters Norma,
and Pauline.
Betty remarked recently that her
life had been so full that it felt as if she had two lives. Betty
loved to travel. She travelled to Europe three times, and across
Canada several times, once with a tent trailer in tow. There were also
many trips to British Columbia and Alberta to visit her daughters and
grandchildren. Betty worked at Eaton’s, married after high
school, raised three children, returned to school at
Oulton’s Business College later in life. She had an antique
business in partnership with Betty Plant and worked as a bookkeeper at
her husband’s engineering firm. Betty volunteered with the
YWCA and the Albert County Historical Society. Betty loved to play
golf, travel with close friends (especially the
"Betty’s" and Sylvia), to collect antiques, and to
play bridge. She was a member of the Gunningsville Baptist
Church.
Betty’s family extend a most sincere thank you to
the staff and management of The Briarlea for their incredible care and
love for Betty and her family.
Honoring Betty’s wishes there will be no
visitation or service. Her interment will take place at the Dawson
Settlement (Jonah) Cemetery. Her arrangements have been entrusted to
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road, Riverview (506-869-2007). Donations made to Albert County Food
bank, the Gunningsville Baptist Church, Dawson Settlement Baptist
Church, or to the charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated
by her family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
