Garnet Isaiah Steeves

June 3, 1931 – April 18, 2024

Korean War Veteran

Born in Hillsborough NB, he was the son of the late Lillian (Douthwright) and Roland OK Steeves.

He was predeceased by his siblings, infant son Garnet, and daughter JoAnn Lynn (Steeves) Nielsen. Garnet is survived by grandchildren, Rebecca and Rachel.

He leaves behind his daughter Norma Jean (Steeves) Schmidt and grandchildren, Jeremiah, Benjamin and Ayla. Son Michael Roland Steeves and grandson Matthew. Numerous extended family expanding over four generations, too numerous to mention.

Garnet loved to travel and this love led him to jobs as a millwright all over the Arctic, North America and England. He loved to dance and in his later years, scurrying around the town on his scooter, talking to all he met. He liked cards and according to his son and granddaughter Rebecca, was the ‘best blind cribbage player on the planet.

He was a spiritual man, a story teller, traveller and helped many people in his life.

Norma and Michael would like to extend a special thank you to his devoted caregiver and friend, Muriel Roy. His special niece Gail ‘Little G’ and husband Paul. His friend Helen (Nemo) and Emily Bourgeois for all the supports and love of our father over the years, as well as the CNIB for the hours of taped stories he loved to listen to.

May He Rest in Peace.

Dancing with the Angels and Flying with the Eagles.

Forever loved.
