It is with profound sadness the family announce the passing of Cecil H. Rigby on April 21, 2024 at The Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Sydney, Cape Breton on July 4, 1931 he was the son of the late Peter and Hilda (Boyd) Rigby. Moving with his family to Riverview in January 1965, Cecil made his career in the Group Insurance business retiring from Co-Operators in 1992.

A lifelong member of the Air Force Veterans Club; he served on the Board of Directors holding every position over his 19 years of service, mostly as Entertainment Director. An avid dart shooter, he played with the A.F.V. mixed league with his wife Peggy, and the C.N.R. Men’s Dart League for many years. An enthusiastic sports fan he never stopped cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Toronto Blue Jays once they joined the league.

Cecil also volunteered as a van driver for the Veterans of the Veterans Hospital for their appointments, special outings, or events.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret (Tredenick), his children Keith, Lori (Ron Romkey), Cecilia (Peter Hamm), and Greg (Crystal).  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew and Luke Taddeo, Owen and Tyler Rigby, Danielle MacPherson-Rigby; great grandchildren Oliver, Bentley, Madison, Isaiah, and Jack; a special Uncle Charles Boyd (100 years old and counting); his cousins Valerie Denton and Bernie Larussic all of Sydney. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Peter, and two infant children Raylene and Timmy.

The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (506-869-2007) on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 6-8PM. A service celebrating his life will take place from the funeral home on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Father Charles Broderick presiding.  The interment will take place at Fair Haven Cemetery.  Donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, P.A.W.S. or charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
