Bill Budd of Riverview
passed away after a sudden illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital
on Monday, February 10, 2025 at the age of 58. Born in New Glasgow,
Nova Scotia, he is the son of Albert and Mary Lou Budd.
Bill was incredibly passionate about his
career as a City Planner. After obtaining his Bachelor’s
Degree at Mount Allison University and Masters of City Planning Degree
at the University of Manitoba, Bill started his career as a
community planner in Manitoba. Bill went on to work for the City of
Moncton for 20 years, in which he most recently served as the Director
of Planning and Development. Illustrative of his dedication to the
profession, Bill was a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners,
the New Brunswick Association of Planners, the Atlantic Planners
Institute, and the American Planners Association. He regularly
attended professional functions across North America to further his
expertise in his practice, served as a guest lecturer for urban
planning students in the Maritimes, and organized conferences to bring
the profession together.
In addition
to being remembered as a leader in his field, Bill will be remembered
as an avid fisherman, a national champion wrestler, a loyal friend,
and most of all, an immensely loving husband, father, brother, uncle,
and son. He will be missed and remembered by his wife Cynthia, son
Brian, and daughter Meghan, as well as by his immediate family: Patty
and Paul Bass, and Sally, Dave, Dylan and William Bibic.
A memorial service in Bill’s
memory will be held at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation
Center, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview (506-869-2007) on Monday, February
17, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
