It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Leroy Close on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at The Moncton Hospital.
Leroy was born in Fredericton, NB, to the late Percy and Viola Close.
He will be dearly missed by his best friend, wife,
nurse… his angel as he called her, Krista Close, daughters;
April (Rob) Close, Tricia (Ralph) Tilley, Jessica (Chris) Yeomans,
Candace (Anthony) Stright, and Melissa (Michael) Yeomans, sisters; Mae
Close, Carol (Michel) LeBlanc, Marg Close, and Maxine (Wayne) Close,
brothers; Donnie Close, Garnet Close, Murray Close, Brian (Elda)
Close, his grandchildren; Corey-Dale, Ashley, Devan, Kaylee, Cole,
Parker, Blake, Brooke, Tayven, Sophia, Liam, Madeline, Alina, Ayden,
Dakota, Calysto, and Rayleigh and his many great-grandchildren, nieces
and nephews.
Aside from his parents, Leroy was predeceased by his son
Leroy Jr. Close, a brother Eddie Close, a sister Nancy Mason and a
brother-in-law Ken Rector.
Leroy was a wild soul, with a zest for life. Always living
life, a bit on the dangerous side. Whether that was driving a bit
recklessly with anything that had wheels... or home renovations that
usually left him injured. His sense of humour always had people
laughing (or offended), and always the life of the party. Family meant
everything to him, he especially looked forward to the yearly family
camping trip with all the daughters and grandchildren.
Leroy always had a passion for fitness & health. Even
doing bodybuilding competitions in his younger years. At the age of 72
he had a goal for himself to enter one more competition when he was
73… sadly cancer had other plans.
If he wasn’t at the gym, renovating the house, or
hiking, he was out riding his Harley with his wife, daughter, sister
& brother-in-law. One of his proudest moments was
watching his daughter ride with him... and ride exactly like
him. Those memories will be cherished forever by his
daughter.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday,
September 10, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Cobb’s
Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road Riverview (506-869-2007).
A special thank you to The Moncton Hospital trauma staff and
paramedics, your support and kindness were deeply
appreciated.
Donations in his memory can be made to South Street Sobey
Cancer Support Centre or to the charity of the donor’s
choice.
